Siem Reap, Cambodia – From September 23 to 27, 2024, SAFETYNET, in collaboration with WHO Cambodia, the WPSAR team, and the Ministry of Health, organized a five-day manuscript writing workshop to strengthen the scientific writing skills of FETP graduates and trainees. Held at the Angkor Regency Hotel, the workshop focused on helping participants prepare FETP field report to the manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals. Facilitators from WHO, SAFETYNET, and the US CDC Cambodia provided personalized coaching to participants, who worked on research topics such as dengue surveillance, malaria epidemiology, food poisoning outbreaks, and antimicrobial resistance.

In-workshop activity, participants responded to workshop instructor, Ms. Asley Arahsiro, from WPSAR

The workshop featured hands-on sessions covering key components of manuscript development, including data presentation, writing results and discussions, and preparing abstracts. Post-workshop evaluations revealed that all participants reported improved scientific writing skills and confidence in submitting their work. SAFETYNET will continue supporting FETP participants with manuscript submission to ensure their research informs public health policies in Cambodia.

Dr. Maria Concepcion Roces, worked as instructor and writing coach, gave comments on the participant’s presentation on their draft manuscript
