[SAFETYNET Nepal] First Meeting of Nepal FETP Steering Committee on July 28, 2023

South Asia Field Epidemiology and Technology Network (SAFETYNET), Philippines organized the first meeting of FETP Steering Committee of Nepal on July 28, 2023. The meeting was held at the meeting room of Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) of the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), Nepal. The Field Epidemiology Training Program started in Nepal in 2022 with the technical support of SAFETYNET and

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, USA.


Dr. Roshan Pokhrel, Secretary of Health, MoHP, presided over the meeting. Among other government officials, Dr. Dipendra Raman Singh, Director General, DoHS, Dr. Anuj Bhattachan, Director of NHTC and FETP course directors, Dr. Keshab Raj Pandit, Director, Vector Borne Disease Research and Training Center, Mr. Bhim Prasad Sapkota, Health Coordination Division, MoHP, Mr. Chetan Nidhi Wagle, Public Health Administrator, and FETP course coordinator, and other senior officials were present. Among partners, Dr. Alden Henderson from CDC, and Dr. Mallick Masum Billah from SAFETYNET and representatives from WHO and USAID were present in the meeting.


FETP Steering Committee in Nepal was formed to prepare the policies regarding FETP course in Nepal, to coordinate with international partner organizations for effective implementation of FETP, to supervise FETP programs conducted by the national focal point, to facilitate effective mobilization of FETP graduates during public health emergencies, to conduct monitoring and supervision for maintaining standards for the field projects and to coordinate with academic institutions.
