2nd Viet Nam Applied Management Training Course Workshop

The second workshop for the first cohort of Viet Nam’s Applied Management Training Course (AMTC) was held from 14-16 November 2017 at the Institute of Public Health in Ho Chi Minh City. The course was facilitated by Management for International Public Health course graduates Doctors Phung Duc Nhat and Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong along with Mr. Nguyen Minh Hoang and Ms. Nguyen Phuong Thuy.

The fifteen workshop participants gave updates on the progress of their process improvement projects. The projects the teams are working on are as follows:

a. NIHE team – improving feedback from NIHE to provinces on case investigation forms received and results of lab tests done at NIHE

b. PI-Nha Trang team – increasing the number of applicants for training in FETP

c. TIHE team – improving the quality of weekly EOC reporting

d. Can Tho PPMC team – decreasing the time for release of water quality test results

e. HCMC PMC team – improving the quality of monthly notifiable disease reporting

f. IPH team – improving the conduct of monthly scientific meetings

g. Danang PPMC team – improving dengue surveillance

h. Hai Phong PPMC team – increasing DPT4 vaccination coverage in Hai Phong City

After the presentations, participants were introduced to the Health Analysis for Planning Prevention Services (HAPPS) or Healthy Plan-it module. Following this workshop, aside from continuing to work on their process improvement projects, participants will design a health intervention plan for a priority health problem in their coverage areas. In December each team will be visited by their assigned field advisor to assist them in the design of their projects.

Dr. Dang Van Chinh, IPH Director, spoke to the participants during the closing ceremony. He encouraged participants to use the skills taught during the course.

The third and final workshop will be held in Ha Noi on 23-25 January 2018.
